The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Oweyesigire has confirmed the gruesome murder in cold-blood of a 14-year-old girl in Bukasa, Kira Municipality, Wakiso district(FILE PHOTO)

WAKISO – On Thursday grief engulfed Bukasa in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, after a 14-year-old girl was stabbed to death under mysterious circumstances.

The girl identified as Jane Nagayi is said to have been killed at around 10 pm by an unknown assailant after she left her mother in Bukasa trading centre on her way back home.

According to residents, the youngster was stabbed in a secluded, dark corner by men who are said to have attempted to rape her.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident.

“We are investigating the murder of one Nagayi Jane, a female juvenile aged 14. She who was stabbed to death by an unknown person. It is alleged that the victim was leaving the trading centre where her mother works going back to her home alone using a dark small shortcut at around 2200hrs,” Mr Owoyesigyire said.

He added that after she was attacked, she made noise which attracted other people but before they could arrive, the attackers had fled into a nearby forest.

” The first responder heard the noise of the girl and upon the response, the assailant took off towards the direction of the forest,” Mr Owoyesigyire added.

Mr Owoyesigyire said Nagayi was rushed to a clinic but could not make it.

Residents said Nagayi had come for holidays from her father’s home district Gomba. Police said the deceased had not yet been used to the place and this could have been the reasons she was targeted for unknown motive.

Locals told police that Nagayi had just spent four days in the area and wondered why she was let to walk alone in the night. Mr Owoyesigyire said a case file CRB: 196/2018 has been opened.

Police said detectives had recorded a statement from the first responder and were already adding pieces that could lead to the arrest of the suspected killer.
