Nurse arrested over Shs2.5M fraud

MBARARA- Police in Mbarara has arrested a nurse working at Kagongi Health Centre III in Kashari North who allegedly conned student of Shs2.5m, promising him a job.

Maurice Kempeta, 25 a resident of Rwaishamiro in Sheema district is said to have conned a longtime friend of hers identified as Sanson Nareeba who was desperate for a job.

Nareeba told the Police that his friend Kempeta promised to get him a job as an enrolled nurse in March 2018, before she was transferred from Mabira HC III in Rwanyamahembe sub-county, but she wanted money to bribe from higher offices.

“Kempeta promised me that the service commission chairperson, a one Deo knew the deal,” he said.

According to police reports, Nareeba a resident of Rwemiriro Ward in Rubaare Town council, Ntungamo district paid the Shs2.5m in installment to Kempeta but she did not fulfill her promise.

“After completing the payments, Kempeta’s phone went off, I never received the job, and I tried to call several times but her phone was off which prompted me to report the matter to the police” narrated Nareeba.

Ms Kempeta upon arrest admitted she received the money but said the deal involved her bosses.

“But you are taking me alone when there are other people who took a share on the same money” screamed Kempeta on the arrest.

The case is registered at Mbarara CPS under CRR 14/2018.
