The Minister of Lands and Housing in Mengo, Owek. David FK Mpanga, has praised the Buganda Land Board (BLB) for their enthusiastic support of the upcoming Kabaka Birthday Run. Scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025, the event marks the Kabaka’s 70th birthday and is themed “Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child.”
During a ceremony at Bulange, Mpanga handed over Kabaka Birthday Run kits to BLB Chief Executive Officer Omuk Simon Kabogoza, expressing his delight at the board’s continued commitment to the annual event. Mpanga encouraged the public to purchase the run kits, available at Bulange, Airtel shops, and various outlets, highlighting that the Kabaka will officially flag off the run at Lubiri, Mengo on Sunday.
“I am thrilled to hand over these kits to the Buganda Land Board, who have consistently demonstrated their support for the Kabaka’s Birthday Run,” Mpanga said. “I urge everyone to participate in this noble cause, as we celebrate the Kabaka’s 70th birthday and promote the well-being of the girl child.”
Omuk Kabogoza emphasized that participating in the Kabaka’s Birthday Run is a responsibility for BLB staff, as they join the Kabaka in the fight against HIV/AIDS. He urged all BLB employees and tenants on Kabaka’s land to participate in the run, supporting the Kingdom and promoting the day’s theme.
“As servants of the Kabaka, it is our duty to participate in this run and support the Kingdom’s initiatives,” Kabogoza said. “We call upon all occupants of Kabaka’s land to join us in this noble cause, as we celebrate the Kabaka’s birthday and promote the health and well-being of the girl child.”
The 2025 Kabaka Birthday Run aims to mobilize men in the fight against HIV/AIDS, with proceeds from kit sales contributing to health initiatives protecting and promoting the well-being of the girl child. The event is expected to attract thousands of participants, including dignitaries, celebrities, and members of the public.
