Motorists and travelers are advised to plan their journeys in advance as Uganda hosts the African Union Extra-Ordinary Summit from January 9th to 11th, 2025. The summit, which will take place at Speke Resort Munyonyo, is expected to attract over 2,000 participants.
To ensure secure and easy access for dignitaries and participants, several key roads leading to the venue will be closed or diverted. The affected roads include the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway, which will be restricted to convoy use only.
Traffic diversions will be implemented to minimize congestion and ensure a steady flow of traffic.
Motorists approaching Mpala will be diverted to Entebbe Highway, while those approaching Kisubi will be diverted to Nakawuka Road.
Additionally, motorists will not be allowed to access Munyonyo Spur and Expressway from Kajjansi Flyover, and will instead be diverted to Lubowa-Zana.
The Uganda Police Force has assured the public that traffic personnel will be deployed to guide and direct motorists throughout the summit. Travelers with flights at Entebbe International Airport are advised to plan their journeys well in advance to avoid any delays.
The public is urged to cooperate with the traffic police and follow the designated routes and diversions to ensure a successful and incident-free event.
Traffic Diversions and Restrictions
To minimize congestion and ensure a steady flow of traffic, the following diversions will be implemented:
Mpala: Traffic will be diverted to Entebbe Highway, leaving the Entebbe Expressway free for convoy use only.
Kisubi: Traffic will be diverted to Nakawuka Road to access Kampala city.
Kajjansi Flyover: Motorists will be diverted to Lubowa-Zana instead of accessing Munyonyo Spur and Expressway.
Northern Bypass: Diversion at Busega Flyover and slip road to restrict vehicles from accessing the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway.
