KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni, in his capacity as NRM Chairman, has written to all NRM leaders, including members of the CEC, NEC, District level leaders, NRM MPs, Sub-County level, and Parish level leaders. In his letter dated January 7, 2025, Museveni congratulated the leaders on finishing 2024 and wished them a happy 2025. He also offered condolences to the families of NRM members and Ugandans who passed away in 2024.
Museveni informed the leaders that the National Electoral Commission has announced the electoral roadmap for the 2026 General Elections, which will take place early next year. The exercise will commence with the verification and update of voters’ registers between January 20, 2025, and February 10, 2025. During this period, registered voters’ names will be displayed at every polling station in Uganda.
“I am, therefore, sending out this appeal to request all of you, the leaders and all the supporters of the NRM, to go out in the period indicated above so as to check and ensure that your names are on the registers and also help in up-dating those registers by removing the dead and adding the names of the new voters – those who have turned 18 years of age,” Museveni said in the letter.
The Electoral Commission has outlined a detailed roadmap for the 2026 General Elections, which includes the nomination of candidates for parliamentary elections on September 16-17, 2025, and the nomination of presidential candidates on October 2-3, 2025.
