Singer Naava Grey has come out to say the inspiration behind her lyrics, saying it is always God who gives her what to sing about most of the time.
Naava who was appearing at a local TV station’s entertainment show said she prays five times a day and to her this is very beautiful, saying she would not be able to write lyrics if it were not for God.
“I remember when I was given to write the Nteredde track, I found it hard at first wondering if I would be able to pull it off but I told God I wanted to be original because everyone has their identity,” she said.
Naava added: “Nteredde was my first track to be recorded in the studio. I performed two Rakas and got the inspiration to write and asked God to help me be original.”
About the cults dominating Uganda’s music industry, the Sokalami singer said she refused to be part of such.
“When I entered the music industry, I was learning spiritual warfare. People are using all sorts of means but I can’t blame them because someone has influenced them that if you don’t use juju, you won’t reach greater heights. The bad thing is that these people are not warned of the repercussions.”
She revealed that she refused to be part of these cults.
“Many have their cults and money but I said no to them. If you like so much money, those new bundles, they will bring them to you but know very well that they are signing you into a deadly place you won’t be able to get out of.”
Naava will serenade her fans this Valentine’s Day at the Kampala Serena Hotel in a night that will be marked with a celebration of love and music.
