Kampala, Uganda – A planned water supply interruption has begun in parts of Kampala, Uganda’s capital city, affecting thousands of residents, businesses, and institutions.
The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) says the disruption, which started at 20:00 local time, is necessary for system upgrade works, routine maintenance, at the Ggaba water works.
Areas affected by the interruption include Muyenga, parts of the Central Business District, Kololo, Jinja Road, Mutungo, Nakawa, Mbuya, Kyambogo, Bombo Road, Mulago, Makerere, Nakulabye, Namirembe, Rubaga, Makindye, Nsambya.
NWSC has advised customers to store enough water, use it sparingly during the interruption period, which is expected to last until 06:00 on Saturday.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, assure our customers that this maintenance work is essential to improve water supply services in the city,” said a spokesperson for NWSC.
The corporation has provided toll-free numbers, social media handles for customers to report any issues, seek assistance.
Affected areas: Muyenga, parts of Kampala Central Business District, Kololo, Jinja Road, Mutungo, Nakawa, Mbuya, Kyambogo, Bombo Road, Mulago, Makerere, Nakulabye, Namirembe, Rubaga, Makindye, Nsambya.
