KAMPALA, Uganda — The Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort Limited in Kampala has been awarded a 5-star rating by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB).
The rating follows a nationwide grading and classification exercise of accommodation facilities conducted by the UTB from June to August 2024. The exercise aimed to recognize and award star ratings to facilities that comply with the Uganda Tourism (Classification of Accommodation Facilities and Restaurants) Regulations.
Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort Limited’s 5-star rating is a testament to its commitment to maintaining quality hospitality standards, according to Lilly Ajarova, Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board.
A five-star rating is the highest rating given to a hotel, resort, or other accommodation provider, indicating exceptional quality, service, and amenities.
In the hospitality industry, star ratings are used to classify hotels and resorts based on their level of luxury, service, and facilities. A five-star rating typically indicates that a hotel or resort has luxurious rooms and suites, exceptional dining options, world-class spa and wellness facilities, excellent service, and high-quality amenities.
Uganda’s tourism industry has been growing steadily, with the country’s unique wildlife, natural beauty, and cultural heritage attracting visitors from around the world.
The UTB appreciates the resort’s efforts in positioning Uganda as a preferred tourist destination, Ajarova said.
