KAMPALA – In a successful operation, the Police at Old Kampala have arrested a suspect identified as Tumwine David, alias Busoni, a 40-year-old resident of Mubuteraniro Village, Mubende District. The suspect was apprehended on November 4, 2024, at around 0900hrs at the Kisenyi Bus Terminal in Kampala Central Division.
The suspect was intercepted during a search by the terminal’s security team, who promptly pursued and apprehended him. Upon inspecting his bags, the following items were discovered:
- A sub-machine gun (SMG)
- Live rounds of ammunition
- Magazines
- Pangas
- A bottle of petrol
- Ropes
The Police were immediately notified, and the suspect is now in custody at Old Kampala Police Station. The Kampala Metropolitan Police have commended the vigilance exhibited by the security personnel at Kisenyi Bus Terminal.
“We commend the security team at Kisenyi Bus Terminal for their vigilance and swift action, which led to the arrest of the suspect,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Kampala Metropolitan Police.
“This arrest is a testament to the effective collaboration between the Police and other stakeholders in maintaining law and order in the city.”
Owoyesigyire added, “We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that all citizens are safe and secure.”
The Police are investigating the matter further, and more updates will be provided as necessary.
