KAMPALA, Uganda — The Ugandan legal community is mourning the loss of Her Worship Marion Mangeni, a trailblazing lawyer and dedicated public servant.
Mangeni passed away at Mengo Hospital on Wednesday evening, December 4, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to promoting access to justice and advancing the rule of law in Uganda.
Prior to her passing, Mangeni had served as the Head of Law Reporting at the Uganda Legal Information Institute (Uganda_LII), where she played a crucial role in making legal information available to the public.
“Her Worship Mangeni’s contributions to the legal community cannot be overstated,” said a statement from Uganda_LII. “Her tireless efforts to promote access to justice and advance the rule of law have left an indelible mark on our country’s justice system.”
Mangeni’s dedication to public service and her commitment to promoting access to justice had earned her widespread respect and admiration within the Ugandan legal community.
“Her Worship Mangeni was a dedicated public servant who served the Judiciary with distinction,” said the Judiciary in a statement. “Her passing is a tremendous loss to the Judiciary and the entire legal community. We will deeply miss her wisdom, expertise, and unwavering commitment to promoting access to justice.”
