Four men have been sent to Luzira prison for allegedly murdering Tugume Albert Cook Apuuli, a mobile money agent and brother of Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura.
The accused are Jimmy Mutagubya, a 27-year-old boda-boda rider; Kayenmba Bosco, a 47-year-old builder; and Suuna Hamza and Makanga Marvin, two unemployed youths.
According to the prosecution, on November 21, 2024, the four accused attacked Tugume in Kiwatule Central Zone, Kampala district, stealing a bag containing an unspecified amount of money and mobile banking gadgets.
They then allegedly shot Tugume with a gun. The same gun was reportedly used to murder Barnabas Sabiti, a boda-boda rider, on the same day and in the same location.
The accused have been arraigned before the Kampala City Hall court, presided over by Grade One Magistrate Aisu Nicholas.
However, they have not been allowed to plead to the capital offenses of murder and aggravated robbery, as these cases are triable only by the High Court.
The suspects have been remanded to Luzira prison, and police investigations are ongoing to arrest three more suspects who are still at large.
The Uganda Police Force has also issued a public appeal for information leading to the arrest of three suspects who are still at large , as stated in a document signed by Deputy KMP spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire.
The three are, Hussein Kabuye, Joseph Bambaiha alias Fire and Martin Lukenge.
