The Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court has issued a summons against Herbert Anderson Burora, the former Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Rubaga Division. Burora is required to appear in court on January 7, 2025, to face charges of hate speech and spreading malicious communication.
The charges against Burora stem from allegations that he used social media to disseminate malicious information about Anita Annet Among, the Speaker of Parliament. Prosecutors claim that the information, which was shared between March and June 2024, portrayed Among in a false and damaging light.
Burora has denied the charges against him. His failure to appear in court on December 3, 2024, prompted the issuance of the summons.
