KAMPALA — The murder trial of businessman Henry Katanga has been delayed for the second time this week, further postponing the proceedings in a high-profile case that has captured public attention.
On Thursday, the court was set to continue the cross-examination of the prosecution’s 10th witness, AIP Enock Kanene, a cybercrime analyst who had reviewed critical digital evidence, including CCTV footage and mobile phone data linked to the suspects.
However, just as the session was about to begin, both the prosecution and defense teams were summoned into the judge’s chambers. Upon their return, they were seen gathering their documents, but no explanation was given for the delay.
Presiding Judge Isaac Muwata confirmed that the trial would be adjourned to November 19, 2024.
Katanga, a well-known businessman, was allegedly shot dead on November 2, 2023, at his home in Mbuya. Following the incident, his widow, Molly Katanga, and their two daughters, Martha Nkwazi and Patricia Kankwanzi, were arrested. The three women face charges alongside George Amanyire, a house help, and Charles Otai, a nursing officer.
Molly Katanga has been in custody since February 2024, awaiting the resolution of the case.
