“Since the state is indisposed the court will hear your bail application next week on Tuesday,” Ms Nankya said.
According to the charge sheet the Mugumya, Kiruuta, and others allegedly stole curtain materials, cushions, curtain tapes, curtain pipes, curtain holders, and eyelights/curtain rings valued at UGX 3.7 billion from Kagule Plaza Kiyembe in Kampala District and Bweya Kajansi between 2018 and 2022.
While Kiruuta, Tamale, and Zziwa are accused of receiving 18 curtain rolls and clothes, knowing they were stolen or obtained feloniously.
Court documents indicate that Mugumyab is a shop attendant from Bulwadda Cell in Wakiso District, Yusuf Junior Kiruuta, a businessman from Mutundwe Kirinyangabo in Bunamwaya Division Makindye Ssabagabo, Ivan Zziwa, a businessman from Namugongo Mbalwa in Wakiso District and John Tamale, a resident of Kiwanda Jomayi Seeta Mukono District.
The prosecution claims the stolen items belonged to Hajji Sulaiman Lwabuuka Kisuule.
Court records indicate that Hajji Lwabuuka had a big store at his residence in Seguku where he kept his curtains and other materials and he gave the keys of the store to his wife.
However when he realised that some materials where missing he decided to carry out an audit which revealed that indeed his property was missing hence reporting the matter to police.
