KAMPALA, UGANDA– President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Professor Moses Muhwezi as the new Principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) for a five-year term, effective immediately.
The appointment, made on November 3, 2024, follows his service as interim leader of the institution after the expiration of Professor Wasswa Balunywa’s contract.
Professor Muhwezi, who has been leading MUBS in an acting capacity since Professor Balunywa’s term ended, has now been officially appointed to the role.
The five year contract was confirmed by President Museveni through an official instrument issued under Article 172(1) of the Constitution of Uganda.
Professor Muhwezi’s leadership is expected to continue the work of enhancing MUBS’s academic programs, which include postgraduate degrees such as the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Accounting & Finance, and Master of Science in Human Resource Management, as well as undergraduate courses in Business Administration, Commerce, and Entrepreneurship.
MUBS also offers diploma and certificate programs and has regional campuses in Arua, Jinja, Mbale, and Mbarara, providing opportunities for students across Uganda and East Africa.
