Nabushawo Faith, a proud alumna of Kampala International University (KIU), has been selected for a prestigious fully funded scholarship to pursue her Master’s degree in Obstetrics, Reproductive Health, and Gynecology.
“I am thrilled to share that I have been awarded this scholarship,” says Faith. “As someone passionate about women’s health, this opportunity reinforces my commitment to advancing my education and making a meaningful impact in the lives of women and families.”
Kampala International University, Uganda’s leading private university and East Africa’s fourth-best university, consistently ranks high in various rankings, including 2nd in Uganda, 4th in East Africa, and top 50 in Africa. The university’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and personal growth is evident in its annual scholarship program, which awards over 50 scholarships to deserving postgraduate students. Since 2004 the University has enabled thousands of young people across the country to access higher education through allocation of scholarships and bursaries per district.
Alhaji Hassan Basajjabalaba, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at KIU, emphasized the university’s dedication to nurturing talent, stating, “We believe in creating opportunities for growth and supporting exceptional individuals like Faith, whose passion and resilience inspire us. Moreover, KIU is particularly committed to bridging East Africa’s human capital gaps in postgraduate ranks, particularly in the health sciences. This is the reason we have invested heavily in KIU’s capacity to provide high quality postgraduate studies in health sciences based at the Western Campus, Ishaka. For the same reason, the Board of Trustees also provides scholarships to deserving postgraduate students from East Africa every year”.
Faith’s undergraduate studies at KIU laid a solid foundation in healthcare. This scholarship will now enable her to delve deeper into critical issues within obstetrics and reproductive health, engage in meaningful research, and gain hands-on experience. Her future plans include working in academia, teaching and mentoring healthcare professionals, and clinical practice, as well as providing compassionate care to patients.
As the late Nelson Mandela, former South African president says,
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,”. Faith’s determination to make a positive difference in obstetrics and gynecology aligns with KIU’s mission to produce well-rounded healthcare providers.
With this scholarship, Faith is poised to make a lasting impact in her field, and KIU is proud to support her educational journey. Congratulations to Nabushawo Faith on this remarkable achievement!
