KAMPALA — Victoria University has announced the passing of its Council Chairman, Canon Joram F. Kahenano, on October 5, 2024, at the age of 76.
“Canon Kahenano was a visionary leader who made significant contributions to the university’s growth and development,” said Victoria University Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga.
Canon Kahenano had a distinguished career spanning 36 years at the Bank of Uganda, where he held various director positions, including Executive Director Administration, Executive Director Operations, Director Banking, Director Foreign Exchange, and Director Exchange Control. He also served on several boards, including Makerere University, Mengo Hospital, Uganda Christian University, Uganda Institute of Bankers, and Church of Uganda.
At the time of his passing, Kahenano was a trustee of Uganda Small Scale Industries and a Non-Executive Director at I&M Bank.

“His dedication to Victoria University will always be remembered,” Dr. Muganga added.
Funeral arrangements have been set. An official vigil will be held on Sunday, October 6, at 5:00 pm at Mbuya Ismael Road Plot 101. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 7, at 9:00 am at All Saints Cathedral Kampala, followed by burial on Tuesday, October 8, at 11:00 am at Kyamugorani C.O.U in Mbarara, along the Bypass.
