PADER – Pader district has registered 573 Covid-19 positive cases following tests on 7,461 people. Of these, eight persons have died, with 390 recoveries.

Pader District Acting Health Officer (DHO), Anna Opio revealed this while meeting members of the Parliamentary Covid-19 taskforce led by Charles Ayume
Aruu County MP.

MP Christopher Komakech attributes the high positivity rate to the use of home based care.

“Imagine a father or mother who tests positive sharing a hut with the children. Is this self-isolation?” Komakeh

The LCV of the district, Obwoya Fearless said the situation is made worse with lack of doctor at the Pajule Health Centre IV, the only healthy facility in the district.

“Pader is a hard to reach and hard to stay district. Despite the bad roads, we continue to refer our patients to Gulu Referral Hospital which is more than 100km away,” Obwoya said.

Emmanuel Ongiertho who represents Jonam County asked local leaders to stop politicking and join the police to enforce SOPs .

In Lamwo, the District Health Officer (DHO), Dr. Denis Omoyar Ochula informed the Parliament taskforce that they have tested 4,227 people for Covid-with 263 turning positive.

He added that Lamwo district received 3,240 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and vaccinated 3,338 people for the first dose and 610 for the second.

Lamwo is a refugee hosting district sharing a 15oKm border line with South Sudan with 28 porous crossing points.
