KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni has said that all 15 regional referral hospitals will be installed with gaseous oxygen plants.
The President who is currently addressing the nation on coronavirus from the State House has said that the government is targeting the production of 24,000 oxygen cylinders per day.
According to him, patients first utilize government hospitals before going to private ones.
“Only 29 of 626 people are now in private hospitals,” he said.
In the last two weeks, Museveni says only Kampala was still high, with 200 cases per day.
The President has also lauded the governments of Norway and China for prioritising the lives of Ugandans and donating vaccines.
“Due to the hoarding of vaccines by some actors in the world, Uganda is coming up with a vaccine to avoid dependency.”
He said that the previous and current lockdown are part of the interventions to reduce death.
“The government is using a multidimensional approach to acquire the vaccines. The delivery of the vaccine purchased will begin this August.”
