KAMPALA —Kampala City Traders Association (Kacita) chairperson Evarist Kayondo has died.
Kayondo died Wednesday afternoon at Lifeline International in Zana, Kampala where he had been admitted with COVID-19 symptoms.
KACITA chief executive officer, Abel Mwesigye confirmed Kayondo’s death.
“He died this afternoon at Lifeline International Hospital in Zana,” Mwesigye said.
He said Kayondo was admitted on Saturday after testing positive with Covid-19.
Kayondo was a teacher-turned businessman who invested highly in the tourism industry.
His death comes few two days after fellow business tycoon Mr Gideon Badagawa also succumbed to the virus.
Mr Badagawa who was Executive Director of the Private Sector Foundation Uganda passed away on Monday.
He succumbed to Covid-19 at Mulago National Referral Hospital after weeks in ICU.
