BREAKING: Museveni announces tough Covid-19 measures

KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni has on Friday announced tougher measures of Covid-19 prevention.

The President is currently addressing the nation on escalating coronavirus second wave.

Below are some of the measures announced

Kikuubo and other business centres should be closed, and the situation reverts to the Presidential Directive of March 2020.

Burials to be restricted to core family members as applied in the military

Emergency vehicles, police, army vehicles and essential workers will be allowed to move but with issued identification.

Food market vendors should revert to the presidential directive of March 2020, to stay in their places of work.

All schools and other education institutions remain closed for another 42 Days.

International and Cross-Border Travels: Entebbe International Airport will remain open, but we shall ensure the no virus, or new variants enter Uganda. Uganda’s land locked country. All cargo movements, to and out of Uganda will be allowed without any disruption.

All public, private vehicles or bodabodas will only move to transport the ill on the authentication and availability of evidence from either the LC, RDC or a competent health facility

Curfew throughout the country is pulled back to 7pm to 5.30am.

Boda-Bodas will only be allowed to move only up to 1700Hrs.

The food market should remain open but the vendors should revert to March 2020 directive to stay in their places of work.
