“Please note that 4th June 2021 has been confirmed as the date for the official opening of the 11th Parliament and delivery of the State of Nation address by HE. Museveni swore in for his sixth term in office at Kololo ceremonial grounds on May 12 before the newly-elected Members of Parliament swore in between May 17 and 20.
The President gives a State of the Nation Address in fulfilment of the Constitutional requirement stipulated in article 101 (1) of the Constitution of Uganda to mark the beginning of the Parliamentary session.
“The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament, deliver to Parliament an address on the state of the nation,” the article says.
This website has however learnt that the president will this time deliver his address from State House in Entebbe over Coronavirus concerns.
Initially, he was set to address from Serena Conference Center in Kampala but has since changed program and chosen to stay at Entebbe State House from where he will deliver his address via video link.
The State of the Nation address will be followed by the reading of the National Budget for the fiscal year 2020/21.
Museveni is expected to address issues like the economy amid coronavirus disruptions.
