KAMPALA – The Kabaka of Buganda His Majesty, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has asked authorities to unconditionally release of all political prisoners across the country who were arrested during 2021 election period.
The Kabaka’s request is contained in his 2021 Easter message, where he urged that it is ruin anyone’s constitutional right to belong to a party of his/her choice.
“As we celebrate Easter, our thoughts are with those have lost loved one to the Covid-19 pandemic. We pray for those who still battling this disease and appeal to our people to adhere to the healthy workers’ guidelines.
“We congratulate our people for taking part in he recently ended general elections. We appeal to the Almighty to calm down anyone who feels unsatisfied with the election outcome. We also appeal for fairness in all election-related cases and release of all the political prisoners,” read in parts, the Kabaka’s message authored in vernacular.
He added: “the resurrection of Jesus Christ reminds us of blood-shed, persecution and tears that lead to the deliverance of the world.”
The Kabaka also prayed to the Almighty to calm down the anger, shame and pain of leaders who persecute those whom differ with hem in political ideology, highlighting how a many Ugandans were complaining over the whereabouts of their relatives.
“Let the resurrection of Jesus remind us that he shed blood, faced persecution to save the world,” he preached.
The Kabaka noted that Easter period was a time for reflection to everyone.
