KAMPALA — Police have arrested relatives of lawyer Bob Kasango for hijacking his body from All Saints Cathedral, Kampala after a requiem service on Tuesday, 02 March 2021.

The arrested group is led by Kasango’s mother Rose Kabise, who wanted his remains to be buried in his ancestral home in Tororo District where his parents also hail from.

Kasango’s wife who hails from Fort Portal in Kabarole District wants the body to be buried there.

According to police, those arrested face charges of inciting violence and disturbing the peace of the dead.

The requiem service went on peacefully until the end when the casket was taken out of church. At this time, the Tororo group then grabbed the casket from funeral service team, loaded it on a waiting truck and sped off.

Kasango, 46, died at Luzira prisons on Saturday evening. At the time of his demise, Kasango was serving a 16-year imprisonment for theft of pension funds.
