MASAKA – Four deacons were elevated to the order of Priesthood while 13 seminarians were promoted to the order of deacons at Kitovu Cathedral on Saturday.

While ordaining the priests and deacons, Masaka Diocesan Bishop Serverus Jjumba  asked them to remain loyal  to the diocese.

“You should be messengers, watchmen and stewards of the Lord, teach and practice what you teach,” he said

The ordination ceremony was initially postponed from June last year due to Covid-19 restrictions at the time.

Rev. Fr Deusdedit Ssewalu , one of the newly ordained priests thanked the Lord for having enabled them to get the sacrament of old orders this year saying that they had lost hope.

“We were in the Seminary between 2005 and 2006 and we thought that by 2020, we would be priests, but due to Covid 19 pandemic, this did not happen, but we thank the Almighty for having granted us this miracle,” he said.(Gertrude Mutyaba)
