Akon coming to Uganda on Thursday to meet Museveni

KAMPALA — Senegalese-American business investor and musician, Aliaune Damala Badara Thiam aka Akon is set to arrive in the country on Thursday 1st April, 2021.

Akon’s visit is a follow up on a business trip by his wife Rozina Negusei that took place early last month.

His visit is coordinated by the office of the Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs headed by Amb. Abbey Walusimbi which has confirmed the developments.

“Yes, Akon will be arriving in the country tomorrow on Thursday, he is coming as a potential investor and will be here to explore more investment opportunities,” noted an officer from Ambassador’s office.

She noted that Akon has established himself as a big investor who recently secured a mine in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He has set up several investments across the continent including setting up Akon city in Senegal.

“Indeed if all goes well who knows, he may end up setting up another Akon city in Uganda,” the officer noted.

Akon will be meeting President Museveni as well as several Ministry departments and private sector which will inform his investment decision.

Akon alongside his wife Rozina will be coming in with a delegation of CEOs from over 13 companies from USA, Turkey, UK and France.
