RUKUNGIRI – Outgoing Rukungiri Municipality MP Roland Mugume Kaginda has withdrawn his outreach ambulance which he donated to his voters last year after the FDC party lost in the parliamentary elections.

Kaginda, who was also the FDC national campaign manager for party presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat, had bought the vehicle to help in evacuating pregnant mothers to the nearest health centres for delivery.

However, the FDC man, who was defeated hands down in the FDC primaries by Dr Warren Nuwagaba Tumwine, has since withdrawn the vehicle.

PML Daily has learnt that Kaginda on Friday ordered the vehicle to be driven back to Kampala nearly two months after he had requested the district health team to first park it at St. Kaloli lwanga Hospital Nyakibale and wait for his decision. On Friday, February 19, 2021 he sent his driver and directed the authorities at the hospital to hand it over to him claiming that as a national leader, the lives of all Ugandans matter and therefore he will be deploying it to other areas of the country.

Kaginda had served since 2011 as Rukungiri Municipality MP. He lost the election in the August 2020 FDC primaries to Dr Nuwagaba who also eventually lost to Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa of NRM in the January 2021 general elections.

Kaginda’s decision follows that of Investment Minister and outgoing MP for Koboko Municipality, Evelyn Anite who withdrew her ambulance after loosing the election in the NRM primaries.
