NTUNGAMO – Maj Gen (Rtd) Mugisha Muntu has said President Yoweri Museveni does not take advice from his senior government officials like his fourth name, Tibuhaburwa, suggests.

Campaigning in his home district of Ntungamo on Wednesday, the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate said because of not listening to advice, the incumbent NRM leader has messed up the country.

“Our country is now upside down because our President Museveni is Tibuhaburwa-like his name suggests. In 1996 when I was the army commander I advised him that the country is getting off the right track, remember to suggest to your boss in army is not a joke, but I stood firm and told him, he refused to take it,” Gen. Muntu said.

He added that as a result, Mr Museveni has created a culture whereby the country is now in the hands of leaders who want to stay in power for ever even when they cannot add any valve anymore to the people of Uganda.

“It is in Uganda where poor people cannot afford to get health service in all health facilities, expectant mothers are dying every day during labour due to lack of health workers and medicines. It now costs Shs 700,000 to be operated on in [private] health facilities,” Gen Muntu said.

He is expected to address other supporters on Thursday in Kajara and Rushenyi Counties.
