KAMPALA – Mr Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the FDC presidential aspirant, was delivered at Kyambogo nomination venue in a Police vehicle after he was picked from the party headquarters in Najjanakumbi.

At Kyambogo, he emerged from the Police vehicle without shoes and walked with only socks.

A route designated by IGP Ochola in a letter dated 31st October 2020 for Amuriat’s nomination did not have Najjanankumbi where Amuriat was found and arrested by Police.

“I’m extremely angry that this could be done to me in my own country. I don’t understand whether there is democracy in our country when a regime chooses to do this to a potential candidate.

“I have come here forcefully, you can see I have no shoes. I went to my headquarters to collect my papers. I have been forced to come here without papers, without a proposer, without a seconder and without the 10 people who should have been allowed to come. This is very very unbecoming and it’s a test case of whether the EC is prepared to ensure there is democracy” Amuriat told reporters.

However, a policeman who moved with Amuriat says the presidential hopeful left his shoes in the car and decided to move barefooted. In one of the photos, a policeman is seen holding Amuriat’s shoes next to the car.
