KAMPALA – The Police impounded 211 vehicles and 331 motorcycles in an operation to reinvigorate anti COVID-19 enforcement on curfew hours.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the operation was peaceful and was carried out in an orderly manner.

“Kampala Metropolitan East 81 Motor vehicles and 22 Motor cycles,
Kampala Metropolitan Police North 45 Motor vehicles and 145
Motor cycles, Kampala Metropolitan Police South 85 Motor vehicles and 164 Motor cycles,” he said in a statement dated October 13.

Onyango noted that some drivers were cautioned while others were issued with Express Penalty Scheme tickets.

“The operation will continue today,” he said.

He further appealed to the general public to plan their journeys early to avoid being caught on the wrong side of the law.

“We would like to remind all motorists that the timing of the curfew is 9:00PM,” said Onyango.
