KAMPALA —National Resistance Movement (NRM) strongholds; Presidential Envoy Catherine Kusasira and Events Promoter Balaam Barugahara continue to throw accusations at each other pointing fingers on who is not loyal how and where.
The bitter exchange comes days after former People Power loyalist and events promoter Bajjo came out and accused his fellow promoter Balaam of being self-centered, selfish and two-faced.
In an interview, controversial events promoter Bajjo described Balaam as something “worse than Covid-19, AIDs, and Ebola combined” because of his “evil ways”.
Bajjo’s comments made Kusasira put an end to the silence she had endured for some time and she also came out and revealed how the promoter is a selfish person who only thinks about himself on top of speaking ill of others.
Kusasira revealed that the events promoter (Balaam) blackmailed her in the State House and that he is the worst person she has ever seen.
“Balaam doesn’t want a person who is well-off, one that gets close to the president, he has a bad heart. It surprises me that a rich man like him is the one with such a bad heart. He has done so much to ruin the music industry. I doubt Bad Black even got the money they promised her. Ashburg Katto is also badly off all because of Balaam. At my age, I had never seen a bad person like Balaam,” she said.
The presidential advisor claimed that Balaam has time and again blocked her from meeting her boss. She said Balaam’s behavior has been consistent with other people including fellow singer Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool.
According to the ‘Enkola ya Taxi’ singer, the matter of meeting the president has been monopolized by Balaam who continues to bad mouth everyone to the president.
“I have personally presented my ideas to the President but he (Balaam) always comes up to make the decisions on behalf of the President. A lot of these young people would be better off if Balaam wasn’t at the center of it all,” she shared.
Kusaasira accuses Balaam of painting a bad picture for NRM to the public with his actions. She continued to say that Bebe Cool’s recent silence has been because Balaam blackmailed him to the president.
“I know so many people whom he has blackmailed before including Bebe Cool. During the trek, Balaam told Museveni how Bebe Cool uses the money given to him to buy Zuena clothes and dolls,” Kusasira revealed.
She further disclosed that the Radio 4 proprietor uses several people to exploit President Museveni. She explains that Balaam fought them (Kusasira and Bebe Cool) at the State House until they were blocked from meeting the President.
“He fought us until they blocked us from meeting the President but I thank God that he was also blocked from accessing the State House. God paid him. I would like to advise Balaam that as a rich man, he should change his ways, He should start wishing well for others then everything will be good for him.”
The Golden Band songstress shared that at one of her meetings with President Museveni, she requested that he (Museveni) come to the rescue of fellow artists King Michael and Big Eye, but Balaam interfered by volunteering to use his money and seek a refund later.
“Balaam told the president that he would use his own money and get paid later. How did he know what amount the president had prepared for each of them? How sure are we that what he was going to give them is what he would ask for in refund?” she asked.
Kusasira also shares that Balaam mastered a habit of embarrassing important people including ministers, by gossiping about them to other parties.
“He picks a phone call and puts a minister on the loudspeaker, then you hear the minister asking for some money and he later starts talking ill about them. That is a terrible habit and not humane at all,” she said.
However, according to Balaam who has since dismissed all the allegations, Kusasira’s claims are baseless. Balaam notes that he is the reason these artists are in the positions they are into now.
He shares that he took them from where they were starving and brought them to where meat was being served and they ought to remember that.
“I cannot say such a thing about Bebe Cool. He is a grown up man and I respect him. If they say I do not wish people good, how come I can lend a huge sum of money to her? Their allegations are baseless,” he said.
