Uganda registers 4 COVID-19 deaths on Saturday as 186 new infections strike

KAMPALA – The Ministry of health has confirmed 4 COVID-19 deaths on September 5, which brings the death toll to 39.

According to MOH the deceased are; 51 year old male from Kanungu district, 56 year old male from Kampala, 79 year old female from Wakiso and 60 year old male from Kampala.

The ministry has further revealed that 186 new cases were registered from tests done on September 4,2020.

This brings the total confirmed cases to 3,539.

Part of the new cases are 176 contacts and alerts with 81 from Kampala, 33 from Gulu, 15 from Pader, 9 from Kapchorwa, 6 from Mukono, 5 from Kiryandongo, 5 from Mbale, 3 from Buikwe,2 from Lamwo, 2 from Bududa, 2 from
Iganga 2 fromWakiso and 10 from Arua, Butalejja, Buvuma, Kanungu, Kibuku, Kikuube, Kitgum Kyegegwa, Lira and Nebbi with one case each district.

Additionally 7 health workers from Jinja, Gulu, Lamwo, Kitgum, Mbale, Lira and Iganga have tested positive for coronavirus.

“Truck drivers (3): Malaba (2), Elegu (1),” reads a statement in part.

The ministry says 11 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 at the borders and their entry into the country was not permitted.

The Ugandan coronavirus recoveries are 1,608.
