KAMPALA – The Lord Mayor His Worship Erias Lukwago has on Thursday morning officially opened a Workshop on the presentation of the KCCA Integrated Development Strategy (IDS) 2020-21 to 2024-25 to KCCA Councilors and Directors.
This is in line with the Lord Mayor’s pro-people policy of Consultative Leadership for proper planning and sustainable transformation.
The Lord Mayor emphasized that Sections 21 and 46 of the KCCA Act are bedrocks for the city transformation as they provide for key strategic instruments and the Authority is duty bound to prepare a comprehensive and integrated Capital City Development.
He added these tools guide the socio-economic development in the City and called on each member to be seized with a copy of the report of the consultants on the development of the Kampala Structural Development Plan.
He added that “our targets must be in sync with the National Development Plan, Vision 2040 and SDGs.”
Lukwago called for Resource Mobilization because it isn’t enough to make plans for shelving.
He made reference to yesterday’s [Wednesday] floods in the City yet they launched the Drainage Master Plan which is the solution to all city floods especially when we are faced with torrential rains.
“Plans are made for a purpose and they aren’t an end themselves,” he noted.
The ambition of this KCCA IDS is to make by June 2020; Kampala an inclusive, resilient and well planned City that provides economic opportunities for all.
