KAMPALA – UNRA management has confirmed two staff have tested positive for coronavirus at the Jinja offices.

This brings the total confirmed cases at UNRA to 8.

According to UNRA, the cases are part of the 107 samples taken on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

“Subsequently, the offices are temporarily closed from today (31th August) to Thursday 03rd September 2020 to facilitate contact tracing exercise and allow sufficient safety precautions including disinfection of the premises,” reads an a statement.

UNRA Management took a decision to conduct testing of staff for COVID-19 as a proactive measure starting on August 19, 2020 to detect and prevent the spread of the virus and to offer adequate support to staff in a timely manner.

“Upon confirmation of the confirmed cases, Management, together with the Ministry of Health embark on the respective incident management protocols and the much needed health support system that includes psychosocial services to our affected members of staff under medical care,” reads an excerpt.

“We appeal to all our clients and the general public to continue practicing proper health hygiene as advised by the Ministry of Health including regular washing of hands, wearing facemasks, avoiding close contact and refraining from shaking hands among others,” the statement further reads.
