KAMPALA – Earlier this week, presidential hopeful and Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyangulanyi unveiled over 80 artists who joined his NUP party at the party headquarters in Kamwokya.

The excited Kyagulanyi noted that he was more than proud of the artists than they could imagine for joining him and believed that God must have intended to get through them to liberate Uganda.

However, according to critics like former Presidential Press Secretary Tamale Mirundi, most of these musicians who are joining Bobi Wine’s party, National Unity platform are looking for free publicity and targeting President Museveni’s cash.

“They are looking for money from President Museveni, that’s why they are flooding Bobi Wine’s office in Kyamwokya. They are just opportunists,” he said.

Catherine Kusasira, a singer and presidential adviser who claims she was denied an opportunity to meet Kyadondo East legislator, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine countless times says the presidential hopeful should desist from segregating people if he hopes to win in the coming 2021 general elections.

“I don’t see any leadership qualities in Bobi Wine. Personally, I have tried to meet him several times but my appointments are always cancelled. He is not an exemplary leader like our President,” she explains adding that the artists that joined NUP are just self-seeking fellows.

According to motor-mouthed presidential advisor on youth and artistes, Jenipher Nakanguubi alias Full Figure, the musicians are only seeking for an alternative source of income after failing in the music industry.

According to Full Figure, a group of failed musicians won’t add anything to NUP.

Full Figure who ironically had her own share of the music industry, and could not raise a couple of songs, now claims that many of those running to Bobi Wine have failed to sustain their lives through music.

She claims that the many artists that have run to Bobi will still not get an alternative source of survival because things will only get from bad to worse.

She cites an example of Derrick Katongole alias Victor Kamenyo, who is said to be battling rent arrears and now running to Bobi Wine to seek refuge in politics but is on the verge of being disappointed.

“Someone like Kamenyo (Victor) sings one song every three years, but wants to live expensively, where will he get such money? These are the people joining Bobi Wine and will be worse than they joined,” she said.

The presidential advisor added that music is not a business but part of life and if one decides to make it their business, they are destined to land in trouble.

“If you follow people who are picking forms from NUP, they are the type; People like Katongole (Omutongole) Khalifah Aganaga, these are the people without spine, they have no idea what they are doing. Many of them will end up like Victor Kamenyo because they are running into the wave of politics,” she explained.
