KAMPALA – The High Court Civil Division on Wednesday afternoon threw a party in honor of the appointment of HW Sarah Langa as the new Chief Registrar.
The Judicial Officers and staff at the Division gathered in one of the court halls to wish the new Chief Registrar well in her next tour of duty and also bid her farewell after serving at the Division as Deputy Registrar.
The Ag. Head of the Division, Judge Musa Sekaana urged the staff at the Division to emulate her work ethic and integrity. He said for one to be recognized, it is for doing something out of the ordinary.
Justice Sekaana thanked her for building a “winning team” at the Division. He further urged her to ensure that the person who will replace her at the Division is a person who will uphold the systems she has put in place.
Justice Emmanuel Baguma talked about destiny and emphasized the importance of building relationships and good working relationships. He described the new Chief Registrar as a team player who is very transparent. “…your integrity will live after you. Integrity is a pillar for everything, please keep it up.”
Judge Baguma further urged the new CR to keep building a team wherever she goes. He said it was a double blessing for the Division to produce a Chief Registrar and to also have Justice Esta Nambayo, the former CR, at the Court.
Justice Nambayo shared several tips about the office of the CR with her successor.
She equally thanked the appointing authority for choosing a lady to be part of the Top Management of Judiciary. Justice Nambayo urged her successor to always consult.
On the elevation, Justice Nambayo said promotion comes from God and as such she should go to the new office with confidence because God is behind her.
Dr Alex Karocho Mushabe, the Ag. Deputy Registrar at the Division said the new CR has shaped the ethical senses of the Division staff. He said it is difficult to fill her shoes because they are big but the team left behind would try to fill.
HW Langa thanked the Division for honouring her and described it as a humbling experience.
She went on to say that when she started out her journey at the Division three years ago, she did not think it would end like that.
The new CR shared that during her tenure as Deputy Registrar at the for the Division, more than 8,000 cases had been completed. She urged the staff to emulate the hard work of the Judges for their commitment and hard work to ensure justice is dispensed.
She thanked the different Judges who have mentored her over the years. To the staff, HW Langa said when she joined the Division, she had a meeting with the staff and agreed on a work plan. She urged each of the staff to continue with the good work.
The administrative staff through their representative, John Maurice Egetu, thanked her for being so motherly to them and prayed that she will be promoted to the position of Judge so that she can be deployed at the Division.
The climax of the luncheon was a cake-cutting moment which was followed by a gift giving ceremony.
