KAMPALA – Pandemonium broke out at the FDC offices in Najjanankumbi near Kampala on Wednesday after hundreds of party youth attempted to force Dr Kizza Besigye to pick nomination forms.

Dr Besigye was at the party headquarters to return the party presidential flag but as he stood up to speak, some youth demanded that he first picks the nomination forms. They even brought pen and paper and demanded that he appends his signature to it.

The intervention of top party leaders such as Patrick Amuriat did little to calm down the determined youth.

However, they eventually gave in and calmed down, allowing Dr Besigye to address the party leadership.

Dr Besigye returned the party flag which will be given to the candidate who will be selected during the delegates conferences slated to take place in September.

The FDC chairman, Mr Wasswa Biriggwa picked expression of interest forms on Tuesday while Mr Amuriat and the party secretary General Mr Nandala Mafabi were picking nomination forms today.

Presidential aspirants seeking to run on the FDC party ticket are expected to return fully signed nomination forms either on Wednesday or Thursday next week.
