KAMPALA – Police on Monday quizzed Sulaiman Kabangala Mbuga aka SK Mbuga for hosting a house party contrary to the existing government guidelines over Covid-19.

Mbuga organized a birthday party for his wife, Jalia Vivian Mbuga at his home at the weekend and photos making rounds on social media show attendants merrymaking without regarding social distance guidelines.

Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed summons for Mbuga.

“Police summoned him and he presented himself at Kabalagala Police where he is currently being held on charges of doing a negligent act likely to spread infection of disease” Owoyesigyire said in an interview.

This comes after Police in a weekend operation arrested over 20 revellers at a bar in Najjera, Wakiso District.

Kira Division Police in a Sunday operation arrested a manager of Cask Lounge located along 35 John Babiha (Acacia) Avenue for operating a bar and other 22 who were found drinking from La Venti Bar in Najjera.

“We want to warn the public to at all time keep in mind the guidelines that were issued by the ministry of health, suspects are all being processed on charges of doing a negligent act likely to cause an infection of a disease,” police said.

Uganda has so far registered 1128 cases of Covid-19, 986 recoveries and 2 deaths.
