KAMPALA — The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Party has nominated Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu as its Presidential Flag Bearer having been un-opposed.
Gen Muntu’s nomination has been announced on Wednesday afternoon—few days after he resigned he role as party national coordinator.
In his resignation letter, Gen. Muntu indicated that he was interested in the party’s presidential flag, as a reason for stepping down.
Gen Muntu launched the party in May last year after leaving the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), in what he said was one of his efforts to unseat President Museveni who has ruled Uganda for more than three decades.
According to the roadmap, registration and picking of nomination forms for the party’s flag-bearer was conducted between June 22 and 25 while verification of nomination qualification documents was done between June 26 and 29.
Nomination for the party presidential flag-bearer slated for today July 1 to 2.
Accreditation of delegates is slated for August 5, followed by the national interim delegates’ conference on August 6.
