NAIROBI — A Kenya Army Helicopter said to be on a training flight crashed in Kithyoko, Machakos County on Monday.

The helicopter of Registration AU003-539 crashed at around 11am at a farm killing its two occupants on the spot.

In statement to media houses after the incident, the Kyanya’s Ministry of Defence said the aircraft was for training purposes.

“This was a training flight. Onboard were two pilots who have been evacuated from the crash site,” read the statement from the ministry.

The cause of the crash has not been immediately made clear.

The helicopter is part of the six US-made light attack helicopter gunships that were acquired by the Kyanya’s defense ministry in January
