WAKISO – The territorial police at Kira Division carried out a night operation targeting bars that were continuing to operate with in the areas of kira municipality and 22 revellers were arrested at LA VENTI a popular bar in Najjera, Wakiso district.

The ministry of health came out with guidlines to help in cubbing the spread of Coronavirus disease in our country and one of them was to keep the bars closed.

According to Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, they have been getting information of bars that were stealthily operating and attending to customers thus flaunting ministry of health guidelines.

He noted that most of the people are taking advantage of the relaxation of curfew.

“During the operation, we manged to arrest 22 suspects from La venti bar Najera, other revellers upon seeing us fled but left their cars behind , which were also impounded by Police, the suspects are currently detained at Kira Division Police station,” Owoyesigire said in news release dated July 27.

In a similar operation , Kiira Road Police station also arrested and detained the Manager of Cask Lounge at 35 John Babiha(Acacia) Avenue Kampala city for operating a bar hence flaunting guidlines from the ministry of health.

“We want to warn the public to at all time keep in mind the guidelines that were issued by the ministry of health, suspects are all being processed on charges of doing a negligent act likely to cause an infection of a disease,” reads an excerpt.

He added that the operations are still ongoing.
