KAMPALA — Brigadier General Jackson ‘Bell’ Tushabe, has passed on, army sources have confirmed on Tuesday June 30.
Gen Bell, a renowned sportsman and the former director of Victors FC retired breathed his last on Tuesday morning at Nakasero Hospital.
Bell who participated in the five year bush war that brought President Yoweri Museveni to power in 1986, previously served as UPDF 4th Division commander.
In the bush, he belonged to the dare devil category of commanders like Jet Mwebaze (RIP), Stanley Muhangi (RIP), Col. Patrick Lumumba (RIP) and Brig. Matayo Kyaligonza.
In 2019, he was among officers promoted after his elevation from the rank of Lt Col to Brigadier General.
His death comes barely a month after the demise of another bush war hero, Brig Kasirye Gwanga.
He served football in different capacities including the position of Vice President in charge of competitions during Lawrence Mulindwa’s first reign in office as Fufa president.
He also served as the Chairman Super Divisions Clubs Associations (SADCA) and chairman Fufa Competitions Committee between 2005 and 2009.
