KAMPALA – Several political analysts and opposition supporters, mainly those of People Power, have expressed reservations about the chances of Robert Kyagulanyi and Dr Kizza Besigye forming a coalition ahead of 2021elections.

Opposition lynchpin Dr Kiiza Besigye and head of People Power movement Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine on Monday, 15 June 2020, explained that they are joining forces ahead of 2021 elections because they have realized it is the only way they can defeat the ruling NRM party.

But according to the analysts, this is not the fight time opposition coalitions are starting in Uganda and collapsing.

Mr Godber Tumushabe, the Associate Director of Great Lakes Institute for Strategic Studies, said: “My view has always been that we are fighting against a very entrenched dictatorship. Museveni has captured all state institutions. I don’t think a political coalition will make any difference. These political parties have their own differences like in 2016, we tried to have it but because of these differences, it didn’t work.”

In 2016, The Democratic Alliance (TDA) selected the former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi as the joint opposition presidential candidate but failed after FDC pulled out.

Amanya Benjamin posted: “The end of people power movement, it is a wrong move you have taken since you will end up fighting each other for positions.”

Derek Agaba said: “Someone called this new arrangement the “United Falses of Change.”

Brian Kb said: “The challenge is that we already have one of the leaders having a selfish belief that if the force is to stay United still elections he is the only worth candidate. But on the other side many of the forces know it clearly that he is not worth their support n can’t support him for the big seat. So this unity only ends at a point of who will be in the driving seat once the elections come. Trust me there are many people of sober mind that I saw today at that conference who cant at any time support Bobi for the leading position of the struggle come 2021 for the reasons we all know that he (Bobi) is not worth……so let’s be clear and tell the world that this unity is only for the current state of COVID19 affairs not beyond this. I know you (pp guys) are going to insult me but please that’s the truth…..anyone with a critical mind saw it during the press.”

Abaho Winnie said: I don’t think someone who failed several times can advise you.

Mbabaz? Firebase posted: I pray God to lead the soul’s of our fellow oppositions not to be greedy for money, God strength their souls to be focused on de struggle.

Annet Kaczynski said: Besigye we love you Unity is very powerful I believe together we can But we are sorry for you all We only need Bobi for President For working together, no problem, but Bobi is Uganda’s voice

Mawanda Gladys Natorious: Dr Kiza we’re waiting for one word. That you won’t appear on ballot paper. Enough is enough and its enough for you.

Owomu Maria: My fellow Ugandans let’s raise our voices to show the country for sure we’re oppressed enough. Now it’s time to gain in our country, where we need genda Blanca and liberty for all.Not for some.
