PML Daily CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: National taskforce on Covid-19 gathers UGX. 28b in cash – Rugunda

KAMPALA – Government has so far mobilized Shs28 billion in cash and in kind from the national Covid-19 taskforce.

This has been revealed by the Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda while updating parliament on the activities of the national taskforce on COVID-19 on Thursday.

Ruganda has informed MPs that the contributions in kind and cash and range from assorted food items, medical supplies and non food items.

He also says that so far 65 vehicles have been donated to the fund with 45 of them already deployed in various districts.

The Prime Minister also added that the target of the fund is to raise Shs170 billion and ten vehicles for each district.

Rugunda also revealed that over 1.5 million people have been given food relief in Kampala, wakiso, Mukono, hospitals and orphanages and are currently investigating allegations of poor quality food.
