Fear as Moroto Hospital medical officer shot by suspected Karamojong warriors

NAPAK – Panic has gripped the general public in Karamoja region following the resurrecting road ambushes by the suspected cattle rusttlers.

The first ambush which took places at Turutuko on Moroto-Kotido road in Napak district has claimed the live of one of the medical staff of Moroto Regional Referral Hospital.

Mr. Benson Otim was shot dead as he was riding from Kotido to Moroto.

Mr.Abubakar Lubega, the District Resident Commissioner Napak confirmed the killing of the medic staff saying they are still following the people behind the incident.

“Yes, I can confirm a strange incident today (Friday) in Napak district on Moroto-Kotido road CIA Napak district where one person who works with Moroto Regional Referraleral Hospital was shot dead and our security team have rushed to the ground to establish the people behind the incident,” he said.

He promised to give details of the incident later after their fact finding.

Major Peter Mugisha, the UPDF 3rd division spokesperson said “I will give the information later after our team coming up with the findings on the ground what took place,” he said.

He, however, predicted that the incident could be caused by Karamojong cattle rustlers before warning that the army will take serious measures against the calprits.
