COVID-19 UPDATE: VP Ssekandi returns Shs20m allocated to MPs

KAMPALA – Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi who is also Bukoto Central Member of Parliament in Masaka district has heeded to President Yoweri Museveni’s guidance and the Court ruling on the 20m shillings previously given to the legislators to help their people to mitigate the challenges of covid 19 in the country.

The Vice President is the first Member of Parliament from Masaka district to deposit the money as guided by the President of the Republic of Uganda to all the legislators.

While handing over the money at the offices of the Masaka Covid 19 task force on Wednesday, the Vice President said that a number of people are faced with various challenges but must follow the guidance of the President and the health officials to curtail massive infections of the pandemic.

The money was received by Masaka RDC, Herman Ssentongo, who in turn requested Masaka Chief Administrative Officer to issue the Vice President with a receipt.

During the same function, Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi conveyed sympathies to the people of Malembo and Diimu landing sites who were displaced and lost property during the floods that swept the area in his constituency.

The Vice President offered to brief the Disaster Preparedness docket in the office of the Prime Minister to enable them get food, iron sheets and tapulins to help them with temporary shelter and accommodation.

The function was witnessed by Masaka LC5 chairman Jude Mbabaali.
