KABALE – State Minister for Planning David Bahati on Friday, May 8, returned the Shs20m allocated to MPs to the Kabale District Covid-19 Taskforce.

Mr Bahati, who is also the district NRM chairman, also donated 30 tonnes of posho worth Shs60m to the district taskforce.

The minister’s donation was delivered by his aide, Wilber Kanyesigye, to the Kabale Resident District Commissioner Mr Darius Nandinda and the district deputy chief administrative officer Mr Hood Nsubuga at Kabale district council hall.

At the same function, Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda donated Shs20M to Kabale district corona virus task force to facilitate them in the fight against the spread of corona virus. Dr Rugunda’s donation was delivered by his personal assistant Mr Emma Bigirwa.

“We appreciate the donations from Prime Minister Rugunda and minister Bahati because it has come at the time when the community in Kabale district need it. Several people in Kabale have lost their properties to landslides and floods as a result of heavy rains that devastated the district. The district task force shall seat and plan how to distribute the relief food received to the most needy because of the nation wide lock down and those that were affected by the floods and landslides,” Mr Nandinda said.

The Kabale LCV chairman Mr Patrick Besigye Keihwa thanked all the well wishers that have donated to Kabale corona virus task force for their compassion saying that fuel donations have helped them in transporting pregnant women from rural villages to the district hospital.
