KABALE – Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Matte has revealed that 30-year-old man in Kabale district committed suicide over alleged failure to raise UGX 1000 to buy salt for his family.

Matte said the deceased identified as Micheal Omwamani hanged himself with a rope and was found in his house.

“Preliminary findings indicate that before the deceased committed suicide, his wife had asked for salt and that is when he threatened to kill himself because he did not have the money, ” Matte said.

He added that the wife left home to go look for salt and on returning back, she found a photo of her husband with a crossed mark, however, he was nowhere to be seen.

“The body of the deceased has been examined by the police surgeon and the postmortem conducted as investigations continue,” said Matte.
