KAMPALA – After shocking revelation by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga that people are being given rotten beans and expired milk in this Coronavirus lockdown, Government has recalled the items from the market.

State Minister for ICT, Peter Ogwang took to his Twitter and revealed, “Today we had to recall some of the beans meant to be given out to some zones in Nsambya Central Parish because it was not good enough for consumption. Uganda National Bureau of Standards might have to up their game on quality control. I am heading to meet them about the same.”

On Thursday, April 30, angry Kadaga made a scathing attack at both the Executive and Judiciary for denouncing the Shs10b Parliament allocated itself to fight coronavirus.

Speaker wondered why the public is concertrating on Shs10b allocated to Parliament, in total disregard to the Shs59b allocated to the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness to supply food to the vulnerable communities in Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono districts.

Kadaga was quoted saying, “The budget also included Shs59b which they are using to buy rotten milk and beans. Appropriation is for Parliament, now a judge wants to do the work. We want to make it clear, MPs have been spending more. I can tell you that personally I have spent over Shs200m on this COVID-19. It’s clear Parliament is under attack from the Executive and Judiciary. We are going to take appropriate action on that.”
