KAMPALA – A section of Members of Parliament hailing from Busoga sub-region have asked President Yoweri Museveni to reconcile with the Speaker Rebecca kadaga following the fight over controversial Ugx10b Covid-19 money that House had allocated itself.
Led by Bugabula south MP Henry Morris Kibalya, legislators included the MP for Bunya East James Waira Majegere, Kagoma county MP Moses Walyomu, Iganga Municipality representative Peter Mugema, Kigulu south MP Andrew kaluya, Butemba county MP Nelson Lufafa, Luuka North Johnson Bagoole, Budiope East MP Geofrey Dhamuzungu and Bunya south MP Robert Ntende.
The legislators came out after the President condemned House for being selfish by allocating themselves Shs20m each MP.
The group said that it was uncalled for by the president attacking the Parliament when he is the one who finally signed the whole supplementary request that had the inclusion of the UGX10b.
Hon. Mugema said that since the Speaker and the President had a meeting over this money and agreed how to return it, he should have not attacked her in the public.
Hon. Kibalya is concerned that the Ugx304b as passed by parliament and cleared by the President included Ugx59b to distribute food relief for the whole country, questioning why food is only in Wakiso and Kampala.
The group also want the President to explain how he has spent the Ugx15b which was given to the President’s office out of the Ugx304b.
The members said that the Executive and Judiciary should have respect for Parliament for smooth running of work.
